There I was, wondering about the props I want to create for my upcoming Johnny Vic play, when Don says, “Hey, there’s this amazing garden I want to show you. It’s up this way.” I was willing to go, especially when I saw the lawn sale sign pointing the same way. Up we went on this curvy dirt road. Winding for a couple of miles, darkened by foliage. And then, bam! There’s this fantasy garden. An Alice in Wonderland paradise. It’s filled with a beautiful bounty of flowers and foliage and a bevy of colorful cement characters from the well known fantasy. There was Alice peering at the Three of Hearts. And the Cheshire Cat was grinning at the Rabbit. And there was the cranky Queen, and even an evil looking troll under a footbridge. The creator of this cool fantasy land told me how he created the statues. “A little chicken wire. Some styrofoam. A coating of cement. Lots of imagination.” Hmmmm. Suddenly my Knock-Knock Rocks, Talking Tree, and Rock of Ages are doable. And the lawn sale? It was right there at this fantasy land. I picked up a beautiful “wedding ring” quilt for four bucks. Cool, huh? To see my cool books, go to www.annrichduncan.com if you haven’t already been there!
