Yup. Hosted a daily talk show for nine years. Interviewed thousands of local people plus a few not so local like Gloria Vanderbilt, Governor Jim Douglas, Pulitzer prize winner Ron Powers. Left the business for about three years. Now I’m back with . . . the Bargain Show, followed by a few hours of DJ shift. It’s a hoot. Why write about it? I guess it’s because it reminds me of life in general. How? Well, I’m taking a normally boring show (our listeners give us items they want to sell or give away or are looking for) and I’m adding my own little twist: Jokes, Bible verses & special quotes related to the items on our list. Our very popular weekday morning show host and the station manager say they’re hearing a lot of great comments about it. And the reason the heading of this post is written as a question? It’s because as a kid, all through elementary school, high school, college, and into my first few years as an adult, I was sooooooo shy that people sometimes thought I was developmentally disabled. I mean, me? Interviewing a governor? A fashion/art mogal? A Pulitzer man? No way!!!! Until I learned from Tony Robbins that you can program your brain for success. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not writing this to brag. (I’m still a relatively unknown author and I’m certainly no great radio star). It’s just that one could think of an interview situation bringing one to some of the names I mentioned above, to selling, well . . . chickens, trucks and such . . . as a downgrade. The lesson is: life is what you make of it and if you work as though you’re working for the Lord and put your all into it, it’s GREAT. Reminds me of a Bible verse that’s in my first Johnny Vic adventure book. “Work hard and become a leader. Be lazy and become a slave.” (Proverbs 12:24). A young woman (character from the 1700’s) is wondering if her hero, George Washington, knows that verse. Hey, what a perfect segway for mentioning my books! “Travel With Johnny Vic Through the Metals of Time,” “Johnny Vic’s Nautical Adventures,” and “Johnny Vic’s Plymouth Adventures.” You can see them (and read a few pages) on my website: www.annrichduncan.com. by the way, you can hear the bargain show on lakes region radio at 94.1 FM and 1340 am, in south western VT and in NY near the VT border.
