George Eliot said it well: “How unspeakably the lengthening of memories in common endears our old friends.” It’s true! Especially with the Class of 1969 (Ticonderoga High). We got together for a celebration of the big six oh. Oh boy! Sixty? How’d the time go so fast? And yet, when I met up with so many of my (old) classmates, I felt as if it were yesterday that I had that crush on DK during tenth grade study hall; and on BL when I realized we BOTH loved horses; and on GL when he smiled at me; and GW when he laughed; and, well, that list could go on and on. And, then there was the day Mrs. G lamented that she was losing her “athlete” when I got hurt the day before our big gym show; and who didn’t enjoy Bill Sola’s art class? Of course there were some memories best forgotten, although it was kind of funny when I passed out and threw up all over Ms. Higley as we were lining up for the Christmas Concert. Actually, I don’t have a lot of memories of great times with my classmates because I was so shy during our high school days, I missed a lot. But getting together again was a good thing. We all thank Jon for hosting the bash. And of course our fearless leader Annie T. for organizing the event and seeing to it that we make it an annual affair. Was great to see everyone. Too many to mention, but it did bring back memories of sleepovers at Cathy B’s house, and excusions with Durna S betwixt our final exams, and berry picking at Warren’s family farm. There’s a saying: Don’t count every hour of the day–make every hour of the day count. Well, the few hours that Ti Hi Class of ’69 was together did count. By the way, I was going to add a photo to this post. Many thanks to Barb Peria for sending it. Trouble is, my computer won’t let me paste it in here. Grrr. But, I’m sure my classmates have seen it and all the others posted on our class facebook page.
